Hi there! I am getting personal on my blog today. I wanted to let everyone know what I am up to because it's incredibly exciting. I am going to Making Things Happen in Chapel Hill, North Carolina next week. It is a workshop put on by some incredibly talented women that I have and will continue to learn a lot from. (See below)
I am equally excited to meet them all. They each own a creative business and amazing ones at that. I admire them all because years ago they had a passion inside that they could not ignore. They worked hard, took the leap and started their creative business. They didn't sit around and dream about one day, they made it happen. That my friends is why I am attending Making Things Happen. I can not tell you how excited I am. I can't wait to meet these fabulous ladies, I can't wait to be among other creative individuals because to me that feels like home but most importantly, I can't wait for a change to take place in me.
I like to keep it real, friends. Even making the decision to launch this business was terrifying but you know what? There was a passion that I could not ignore. I am an artist, I want to be able to create beautiful and custom weddings and details for special occasions. It makes me happy, it fires me up and I feel like I was made for this. In college I studied art education. I have always been a huge believer in continuing education. I am so looking forward to learning from this stellar group of ladies and to apply what I learned into bettering myself and my business.
Am I nervous? You betcha! I am naturally pretty shy and I will be meeting 100+ incredibly talented individuals but while I did my "homework" in preparation for Making Things Happen I was challenged to write down what worked in 2012 and how I would carry that into 2013 in business and in life. I learned that when I forced myself to get out of my comfort zone (in creative projects/design/networking) the best things happened! Also, I will be sharing a room with my friend Nicole of Simply Savannah Events so I am not in this completely alone.
So my friends, I will be flying out to Chapel Hill, North Carolina at 4am Wednesday morning and I can't wait to tell you about it when I get back. Wish me luck!
